According to a new "Internet deprivation study" from Yahoo, 28 participants who were forced to go without connectivity for two weeks "suffered withdrawal symptoms and feelings of loss" (BizJournals). Users increased their consumption of more traditional media like newspapers and television, with one couple claiming their cell phone bill tripled (USAToday). According to the USAToday article, one user forgot how to boil an egg and was stymied when he couldn't look it up on the internet.
