Zombies for rent...

Zombies for Rent
Problem growing at astounding rate
According to Technology Review, a compromised network of PC's - infected with trojans for use as spam relays or DDoS participants - has a going rental rate of $100 per hour. According to the article, some 30,000 machines per day are infected and incorporated into zombie armies (up from 2,000 per day this time last year). While an unprotected machine will typically be attacked within 20 minutes of being put on the Internet, one Symantec analyst notes that "the fastest we’ve seen was a machine taken over six seconds after it was connected to the Web."
